Get to Know Our Story
We're just a regular married couple and parents of two beautiful children. We have always wanted to travel internationally (especially to Africa) but we never seemed to be able to make time.
During the pandemic, we did a lot of reflecting, vision boarding and talking. We did a deep dive into our accomplishments and our unmet goals. (I mean advanced open water scuba diving, DEEP!) Our checklist went something like this:
- Successful businesses ✔
- Two Amazing Children (10,11) ✔
- Homeowners ✔
- Travel the World
We both remembered how eager we were to travel. It’s funny because it was actually the first thing we connected about, when we met 13 years ago at a Barnes and Nobles. He was a sailor with one year left in the military and I was a college student both who dreamt in travel. Almost 14 years later and neither one of us had a passport, let alone a stamp. We were both happy and proud of everything we had accomplished thus far, but this had us both thinking like “How the F**k Did We Get Here”?
Covid-19 made us realize how short life is so we started to make moves to be able to accomplish this goal. We got our passports in 2020 and took our first international trip in 2021 (to AFRICA, of course) and haven’t looked back. As we started to talk to people about our travels and our budget (DEALS on DEALS on DEALS) for our travels, people started to ask us “How The F**k Did We Get There”?
We started this blog to answer that question…. We are documenting our experiences traveling while Black, in destinations around the world with the hopes of inspiring young, black families to do the same!
We did not win the lottery, and We did not quit our jobs, but are on a mission to travel the world.
How? Well I have a list of go-to resources and have learned to be savvy about the following:
- How much we pay for airfare
- How we use our vacation days
- How we earn airline points and miles
- Where we travel
- When we travel
Our trips will spotlight ideas for international, domestic, and East Coast staycations and will include ideas for couple travelers as well as families. I hope that you enjoy our travel adventures and that we can inspire you to create your own.
